Greek but also Mexican at heart, I don’t feel tied and anchored to any specific place.

On the other hand, my autonomous self seems to be contained in a nucleus. It is strong, real and mobile. That core that encloses me, is my art, my sculpture. As in a pod, my whole being is within that center and is ready to germinate in any of its forms. I have worked with a wide variety of materials that I model or carve according to their properties or the requirements of the work.

Out of respect for nature, I tend to use waste materials when making maquettes, and when carving, I transform marble or wood as little as possible, just enough for stones or trunks to become sculptures. I feel the material’s identity and respect it.

My work is abstract and organic in its shapes, often referring to the natural world. Due to my Mediterranean origins, Greek legends are often a source of inspiration. Nature is a universal treasure and its abuse by man, a general concern. The human being, in most ancestral cultures, approaches it by the means of myths or spiritual beliefs. Today the approach to the environment is not by mythology but by science. Any awareness is important and transcendent, whatever the means.
